Regarded as one of the most beautiful Pininfarina designs, the Lusso, or GT/L, sold as a road-going car and directly benefited from the successful line of Ferrari 250 GTs. It was developed from the dual-purpose 250 GT Short Wheel Base (SWB) which was delivered as both as a full-on competition or a steel-bodied grand touring car. When the SWB's time was up, its road-going version was replaced in 1962 with the more curvaceous 250 GT Lusso.

The very first Lusso appeared in October of 1962 at the Paris Salon and generated lots of interest with its exquisite proportions. It became instantly recognizable with a sweeping side profile, full-length fenders, slim pillars, truncated tail and an odd three piece bumper.

Inside, the Lusso was well appointed with ample room for two and luggage area in behind with retention straps. This was possible because the Lusso used the earlier SWB chassis, but with its engine mounted much more forward to increase passenger space.

Although the Lusso's primary intent was grand touring, it still shared many racing features with the all-conquering 250 GTO race car. Both had the same wheelbase, disc brakes, Boranni wheels, suspension and all-aluminum engine. Despite the Lusso's less robust chassis, steel bodywork and more forward mounted engine, many owners rigged their cars with a harness and went racing when a GTO couldn't be ordered.

10-10-1967     Per Ingvar Brandstrom. Sweden
                     Per Ingvar Brandstrom and Sven Andersson (familiair Ferrari dealer of the 60's and 70's in Sweden).
                     going to Auto-Becker Dusseldorf,Germany.

                     Brandstrom had reserved a 275 GTB that was offered by Auto-Becker in Dusseldorf,
                     but as the 275 GTB had been accidentally sold, he bought this s/n 5847 GT Lusso instead.
                     Brandstrom pay's 11.300 SK
                     First registration in Sweden 10-10-1967
                     Going to Sweden, by arrival at Gothenborg the Lusso had to stay overnight by the boatterminal.
                     That night the steering wheel was stolen.
                     Brandstrom repairs the Lusso and sells it to Sven Andersson for 16.000 SK
                   
1968/1969      Sven Andersson. Sweden
                     Race Driver with Ulf Norinders
                     Sven Andersson sells s/n 5847 GT for 18.000 SK to Peter Ashtelik.

11-5-1970        Peter Ashtelik.Sweden.
                      His first long distance trip from Gothenburg to Stockholm,
                      Lusso s/n 5847 GT wrecked badly in Karlstad,  Sweden. 
                      crashed for the second time against a gas pump, after the crash s/n 5847 GT Lusso stay's outside                       the whole winter on a trailer.

23-8-1970         Tom Trana.Sweden
                       Via Sven Andersson, Anderrson buys on 15-8-1970 the crashed s/n 5847 GT Lusso from Ashtelik                        for 6000 SK and sells it for 8000 SK to Tom Trana. 
                       Tom Trana,the famous works rally driver for Volvo and Saab, repairs and overhauls the Lusso as a                        study project with the people from Volvo.
                       One of the Head designers from Volvo took the s/n 5847 GT Lusso as example for the new Opel                        Manta design in order of GM.
                       Tom Trana drives many road rallys with s/n 5847 GT Lusso.

1974/1978         Rein Thomsson. Gothenborg, Sweden
                        Thomsson Competes in many road rallys with s/n 5847 GT Lusso.
                        In the Mid 60's in Gothenborg, Battista Pininfarina posed by Lusso s/n 5847 GT.

1978/1983         Jens Larsson. Sweden
                        Larsson, Molnlycke,Gothenborg 
                        Crashed s/n 5847 GT in Prix Maritim,Timmerdorfer strand, a road race, summer 1983 by Jens                         Larsson.
                        After the crash s/n 5847 GTLusso stood still for almost 5 Years.

28-9-1987         Gunnar Pettersson.Varberg, Sweden
                       Pettersson buys the s/n 5847 GT lusso from Jens Larsson for 550 000 SK.
                       Intermediary: Ulf Bohman.
                       He brings the s/n 5847 GT Lusso 27-10-1987 to Auto Sport-Bacchelli Itali for a total ground                        up restauration.
                       May 1988, the s/n 5847 GT Lusso is ready and repainted in Silver.
                       August 1988, the s/n 5847 GT Lusso goes back to Itali after problems in the varnish/paint.
                       October 1989 the engine is rebuild, overhauled by Autofficina Sauro Bologna.
                       Auto Sport-Bacchelli repaired and overhauled in the winter 1991/1992
                       Lusso s/n 5847 GT painted in Giallo-Fly, like the second prototype s/n 4053 GT Lusso showed at                        the 1962 Torino Itali car Salon !
                       May1992 new interior by Luppi
                       1992, s/n 5847 GT Lusso is back in Sweden, the only Lusso in Giallo Fly, concours condition.
                       Gunnar visit lots of events in europe, Highlight :1997 invitation 50Th Ferrari Anniversary Itali,Rome                        and Modena s/n 5847 in the parade.
